Globally well known filmmakers MIRA NAIR (Salaam Bombay, Monsoon Wedding, The Name) and MORGAN SPURLOCK (Super Size Me, Where on the planet is Osama Bin Laden, Freakonomics) will certainly be recognized at REEL WORK’s 2014 Gala Benefit happening on Wednesday, November 5th, at the Edison Ballroom, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm. The benefit raises funds and awareness for the Brooklyn-based non-profit whose objective is to prepare at-risk (underserved?) youth for professions in New York City’s $ 5 billion film and television market. This popular yearly home entertainment industry event is supported my various media companies, among them Viacom, Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime, CNN and Fox Networks
. In addition to recognizing Nair and Spurlock, Reel Works will also call the student recipient of the F. John Outcalt Award for Exceptional Filmmaking, peer-selected by the Reel Functions Junior Advisory Board. The Outcalt Honoree will certainly also receive a $ 5,000 scholarship donated by Comcast NBCUniversal. Reel Works teens will certainly be on the red carpet to talk to visitors and will movie, edit and present an original documentary at the conclusion of the event.
